Rosie and I

For my birthday in April I took my best friend and had her take photos of Rosie and I. lol, even thought she pressed the button I really took these photos, I got the camera in focus, told her exactly were to stand, then had her use rapid shutter.

Rosie is my Galah cockatoo, I call her my feathered best friend. She is a 21+ years old and was a rescue. A wonderful retired couple adopted Rosie out front of a pet store, the woman was asking people to take Rosie because her husband was going to kill her My friends love birds, and took her in. Although they love birds, they are super old school in their care and fed Rosie a staple sun flower seed diet for the five years they had her. Rosie was willed to me, but they decided to let me take her early as she's a special needs bird and they didn't have time for her along with their African grey and blue & gold macaw.

So Rosie came home with me. I didn't realize at the time but she had organ failure/liver disease, was borderline emaciated, had horrible feather quality, a badly healed broken leg, terribly weak legs, a calcium deficiency, learned hopelessness, and was a plucker. I've had her two years and it's taken nearly the whole time to completely rehabilitate her. Seeing her open back up and become healthy has been amazing, she is one of my best friends and I would do anything for her.
